We have a web application that calls a Java applet that seems to be very
particular under which conditions it runs.

When we use Firefox ESR 38.x and Java 7, everything runs fine.
Firefox ESR 38.x and Java 8, everything runs fine.
Firefox ESR 52.x and Java 7, everything runs fine.

So far, you'll see if we mix old and new versions, things run smoothly.

When we run Firefox ESR 52.x and Java 8, however, the Java applet cannot be
called.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be? The configurations of the
different versions are the same in each case, so I don't think it's a settings
issue. Is there perhaps some protocol or some other setting that has been
deprecated in either product that somehow is preventing the applet from
running? Any ideas how to troubleshoot?

Thanks,
Marc
