Short answer: Windows 10.

A bit longer answer: Windows 10 decides default programs, not the programs, so there are no longer any easy way to set default program programmatically. Also with every feature update those are reset to whatever M$ thinks you should be using (Edge) and you need to set them again.

There are plenty of examples in the net how to import/export file associations using GPO and XML and stuff like that, but any "setasdefaultappuser" -type switches wont work anymore. Not easily anyway. At least I don't know any easy method of changing that.
