Word 98 documents/Mac Office 2001

I work for a Junior High School. We plan on purchasing 35 iMacs, and will
also be ordering Mac Office 2001 for each machine. Our district technology
support is telling us that there have been instances of crashing when a
document created with Word 98 is opened with Mac Office 2001. Anyone know
anything about this?
