One of my campus clients came up with this signature idea for OE 5 a while
ago and it impressed me then. It is a little strange to think about.
I would prefer (for OE, too) to have a templates feature built-in. (Like
Netscape Communicator 4.5+ has, alas. Don't laugh, it's a faster IMAP client
than OE.)
You can also drag and drop text clippings into OE (and Entourage, I presume,
since I don't yet have Ofc 2001) messages. Similarly, you can drag and drop
selected text from compatible text editors (like BBEdit Lite). (Dragging
text files themselves adds them as attachments, grrr. Wish there were a way
to drag the files in as the body of a message!)
There's also the "Insert text file ..." script in the OE script menu (and
again, I presume in Entourage's) that you can use to insert boilerplate text
from a text file into a message. FWIW.
I've also had some good success using scripts that create message bodies
from other sources, like BBEdit (Pro, since it's scriptable) windows. After
a little trial and error with OE's dictionary, I figured it out. Makes me
feel like a champion scripter! :)
Overall, I'd still rather have a templates feature!
