Couple comments to add to a very thorough post!
I have also posted a web page with some of the OE scripts I've ported to
Entourage and verified. Many more to come.

You can also find some more scripts on Matt Ridley's site:
<http://www.matt-ridley.com/software/applescript/applescript.html>
There is someone working on getting a general repository for Entourage
scripts, but so far that has not shown up. (I think he's trying to get some
official recognition for the site from Microsoft.)
A script that would automatically edit scripts from OE to Entourage is not a
bad idea, but it isn't simple, because scripts are generally compiled, not
plain text. A script for Smile could do it because Smile is scriptable, but
Script Editor is not (go figure), and that is what most people--at least the
people who would really use the script--would have.
If you DO have Smile, you could store this script in Smile's User Scripts
folder and run it from within Smile to fix a single script:
try
set w to window 1
on error
FatalAlert("This script will attempt to convert all occurrences of
Outlook Express in the front window into Microsoft Entourage.")
return
end try
set update screen of w to false
set store undo of w to true
try
change "Outlook Express" into "Microsoft Entourage" in w
end try
set store undo of w to false
set update screen of w to true
I have worked this into a droplet so you can drop scripts on it and have
them converted (it makes a duplicate and converts the duplicate). Let me
know if you are interested. I'll post it to my web site in my next update, a
couple of days from now (along with several others).
