Title: Rebuilding database: deja vu
Would appreciate in solving a problem with Entourage 9 which
I find, after a month’s use, vastly superior to Outlook Express 5
in every respect...except one...

Closed the Progress window and quit Entourage.
No other Microsoft Office program was running.
In fact, no application other than Finder was running.
Option-click-launched Entourage to rebuild the database.
Got this admonition:
To rebuild this database,
quit all other Microsoft Office
programs, and then try again.
Followed the instructions to the letter and tried again.
Got the same admonition again and again and again!!!

What was I doing wrong? What's the fix? (Faced the same problem
with OE 5...went away after closing the Progress window before
Quitting and option-click-relaunching the app. No such luck with
E 9!) Please advise and oblige.
