I have written a utility which provides this functionality. It is usable
with both IE and NS and it works with any application in which you click a
link, not just OE or Entourage. It is called "GURLy".
Brief Abstract
--------------
GURLy is a simple control panel and daemon to make your web browser behave.
Ever find it a pain when you have your web browser open and you click on a
link in another application the browser comes to the front and loads the new
page in the same window over top of the page you already had open? I've
found this to be a pain, especially when I was filling out a form on the
web, went to read mail, clicked on a link in a mail message and the browser
loaded the new page over my form so that when I clicked "Back", all of my
form data was gone. Well, GURLy was created to fix that problem and to work
for all applications which might want to open a link in the web browser.
What GURLy does is receive 'GURL' (Get URL) AppleEvents from other
applications and redirect them to the web browser of your choice as "Open
URL" AppleEvents so that they always open up in a new window. It can also be
set to leave the browser in the background when it opens up a new web page
so the web page can load but you remain in your current application and
bring the browser to the front when you're ready to look at the web pages
you've loaded.
Make sure you read the "Read Me" file that is installed on your machine!
