An excellent idea. I'm sure it would prove useful to many people.
On a related point (which may have been mentioned before), Entourage has
carried over the 'broken' newsgroup sorting of Outlook Express 5.xx.
Newsgroup comments still cannot be sorted by thread _and_ date (e.g.. most
recent threaded comments first). This is a particularly annoying shortcoming
that I hoped Entourage would fix.
I remember the Microsoft Mac team, after the release of Outlook 5.0,
explaining it by saying something like "there are many other newsreaders for
the Mac market, Outlook is not trying to compete with them...". This is
absurd, considering that Outlook 4.5 did the job just fine. I can understand
avoiding adding this functionality if it is not a priority, but why REMOVE
it? Why not just remove the newsreader entirely, instead of just making it
less useful than before?
I'm not a heavy Usenet user, but when I do use newsgroups, I like to read
them in a reader with a preview pane, (like OE 4.5 had). I know that the
Newswatcher (YA-, MT-) series has many more features than OE or Entourage,
but I dislike the way it spawns window after window. The way I see it, there
are a couple options:
1. Download and install OE 4.5 again and use it just for NG's.
2. Use Netscape Communicator 4.7.x as above (I think the mailer is ugly,
but it does NG's right)
Any other ideas?
