David, thanks for your response. It's unfortunate that this explanation never came to light at the time of the OE 5.0 release. Of course, your reply begs the question: will the ability to multiple sort be folded into a future version of the program, with improved back-end functionality? I am actually concerned less with news reading and more with multiple sorting of email or contacts, which would be quite a useful feature.
