If you still have office manager from Office ‘98 on your machine, you can remove outlook express and substitute E’rage for it. This makes accessing all of the office components much easier than cluttering up the desktops with aliases.
Additionally, it makes accessing the applications simpler. You don’t have to start minimizing windows to get to the desktop to find the alias.
Better yet, get FinderPop. Free, infinitely customizable and does not conflict with anything I know of.
