Subject: Import contacts from Outlook 97 Win to Entourage

Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated as I'm trying to run my
business off Entourage now.

Problem #1. I can't seem to get a clean import. I tried to export from
Outlook 97 in both comma and tab (win and dos). I have about 1300 business
contacts I need to import. Wen I go to import it shows up as 1700 contacts.

Basically Entourage is taking all but the first line of notes from Outlook,

creating random contact files and sticking the notes info into these files
randomly with no name or address. It sometimes takes other info and creates

more files but mostly it's from the notes. I tried going into Excel 97
(win) first and also Excel 2001 and THEN exporting as tab with the same
results. (Their are several options though that I may not be setting
correctly)

Here's a clue which may help:

The notes are usually 3-5 short lines AND are separated by a blank line. I
hit return twice to get a blank line in between each line of notes. Do I
have to strip and replace the "returns" when going between platforms or
something? i don't know how though.

Problem #2. I need to preserve ALL my custom categories from Outlook 97 to
keep my clients organized. As you know you can't import these directly.
The best I could do is import them as a custom field. Is there a better way

to get them into Entourage or perhaps a script to convert the custom field
from every file into Entourage categories.

Thanks very much for any help offered.
