I really, really want to be able to specify "defunct" email addresses.
And I really, really don't want them to show up in auto-fill address.
Why?
Well, having personally had professional email addresses including, but not
limited to: atu.edu, uark.edu, hendrix.edu, rice.edu, harc.edu,
jsc.nasa.gov, bcm.tmc.edu, uth.tmc.edu, tmc.edu, sccsi.com, houston.edu,
motorola.com, amd.com, arizona.edu, intercon.com, aol.com, apple.com,
eworld.com, inter.net, interramp.com, svcdudes.com, psi.com, psi.net,
ascend.com, lucent.com, and soon agere.com...
Suffice it to say that while I like to be sure to categorize all mail "from"
me correctly, I really don't need to see most of those email addresses if
I'm cc'ing myself on something.
Similarly, parts of my development team, with whom I've worked for nearly a
decade, can have over a dozen different domains depending upon which set of
tangents brought us into the same orbit. And while I like to ensure that
old email from them is correctly categorized, I'd much prefer that no longer
valid email addresses show up in the auto-fill list.
And we won't even get started on matching:
Phil Kearney
vs Philip Kearney
vs Philip F. Kearney
vs Philip F. Kearney III
Or, for that matter:
ascend.com
hrn.ascend.com
eng.hrn.ascend.com
test.hrn.ascend.com
Or the various hosts in each of those subdomains.
Of course, I'm tempted to pull out the wayback machine and toss in:
...!nuchat!mikel
But then I might have to include the BITNET and/or FidoNet addresses (hard
to believe *that's* still around...).
