there is a new program I use called “Entourage Email Archiver 1.0” with some really great features. Is anyone currently using this?
Roger,
I would have replied to this earlier but I was in the middle of an archiving of Entourage mail and I didn’t want ANYTHING to interrupt it. It took 51 hours, 32minutes and 20 seconds to archive a total of 54053 messages in 378 folders.
My observations:
1. It’s easy to set up. The options are extensive.
2. The documentation doesn’t describe everything that happens or do an incremental archive.
3. The speed of archiving varies during the process but I can’t tell why. It seems like it will speed through a large folder full of mail with attachments and then slow down on a fairly small folder.
4. It will skip messages (as noted in the log) but there’s no explanation of the criteria for skipping.
5. You can’t save the setup (source and destination, for instance) between sessions.
6. Filters aren’t implemented yet. They’re absolutely critical for this to be useful.
7. The manual states that the archive will take up less space than the Entourage message databases. This is definitely untrue. Including attachments (I didn’t have THAT many!), the resulting archive is at least twice as large as the Entourage files.
I have a few other minor issues. I’m going to post all of this to Stefano tomorrow.
Bruce
