This is something that I hope can be addressed in the March update of Office
2001.

The problem is that the previous and next buttons in a message window are
different sizes depending on whether the message in the window is one that
you sent or was sent to you. In a message window, a received message only
shows a arrows in the buttons, resulting in small buttons. However, in
messages that you sent, the same buttons are much larger and contain the
text ³next² and ³previous² in addition to the arrow icon.

The result: if the mouse is on the ³next² button in a message you received,
clicking will advance you to the next message and position the mouse over
the ³previous² button if the next message was one you sent.
