We had some discussion a while back about a similar problem with copying
Japanese characters into Word. It had to do with the use of two bytes per
character, I think, or a different coding technique. I forget what the
resolution was, but you might search the archives on "japanese" or on
"unicode" and see what you find. Or perhaps someone else remembers and can
summarize (Paul or Dan?).
