Yes.  Or, more accurately, maybe.

Most UNIX-based IMAP servers typically store their mail in mbox files.  So,
you can move the exported mbox files to the IMAP server (typically via FTP
or NFS), place them in the IMAP hierarchy, and they'll just work.

But, again, that's for UNIX and the IMAP servers that I've used.  I've no
actual knowledge as to how a Windows-based Exchange server stores things.


I would however anticipate that an Exchange server would have the ability to
import a pre-existing mail store for the purposes of new deployments...so
I'd also hope that you could use the same process to move old mboxes.

You may want to look at either the Exchange Server Administrator, Bulk
Import, or possibly the "Migration Wizard".  But it looks like the last one
requires you to move everything to an IMAP server first...


If it's really, truly important that you move to Exchange and there's no
native import in Exchange Server, you could move everything to an IMAP
server and then import it.  The simplest way to do this might be to run EIMS
(an IMAP server) on a Mac...and to point the Migration Wizard at it.
