Sorry, everyone. I did let Erik know immediately, and he is looking into it.
He's pretty upset with the company that provides the download site. I just
downloaded those two scripts myself without problem, but that may ort may
not mean the problems are solved.

I found a little bug yesterday in Open Contact Name, and used the occasion
to increase it features. (It's now my favorite script.) So Open Contact Name
1.2 and Office for Office 1.2.1 are now up as well. (The only difference
between O4O 1.2.1 and v1.2 that came out two days ago is this new update for
Open Contact Name, so don't get the whole thing if you don't need it.) Open
Contact Name can now, as well as all its other nifty tricks, take a name and
email address such as

    Paul Berkowitz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

and immediately make a new contact if you don't have it already, putting in
first name, last name and email address where they should be and opening it
for you immediately from the first dialog, just by pressing option-command-O
after selecting the name and email address on you screen. (If you have that
contact already, it just opens it immediately.) So -

    New updates at AppleScript Central

Open Contact Name [v1.2.0]
Open Contact Name is probably the fastest way to open a contact window
from anywhere within Entourage outside the Address Book, run from a keyboard
shortcut. v1.2 has better features for opening contacts whose names are in
quotes (as often in attribution lines), and in making new contacts from
selections that include both name and <email address>.

Office for Office [v1.2.1]
A suite of 12 AppleScripts for Office:mac. In this set you will find new
and upgraded scripts which will allow you to make better use of Entourage
and Word working together in ways not yet possible without scripts. v1.2.1
incorporates a new script: Select Contacts, which lets you easily select
multiple contacts in the Address Book for all the Print scripts when you
don't need to sort them, and for the new updated Address Word Letter 2.4,
which both fixes the date in your saved letters and allows you to open
letters to multiple contacts at once; and a bonus script, Open Contact Name,
the quickest way to open any contact from anywhere within Entourage outside
the Address Book. v1.2.1 updates Open Contact Name to v1.2, which has better
features for opening contacts whose names are in quotes (as often in
attribution lines), and in making new contacts from selections that include
both name and <email address>. OSAX: Akua Sweets 1.4 (or later).

I guess I'd better be nice to my friends on this list, and mention that the
scripts are also available at my mac.com website:

    http://homepage.mac.com/berkowit28/

Aside from the fact that Erik, who runs ASC, has been incredibly helpful in
posting everybody's scripts and providing this fast-search and attractive
site for Entourage scripts - which have no other home - I have to admit that
my vanity gets a kick out of seeing the download numbers at the ASC site
(they are completely unknowable at my mac.com site). it's mostly the only
positive feedback I get - usually I only hear when there's a bug. So that's
one reason why I push the ASC site! Being more used to download totals of
around 27 per script, it was nice to see this morning that Office for Office
has now topped 6000. Maybe this could be a bit of a guide to MS that there
is a real demand for better mail merge features between Entourage and Word?
I'd be happy if the next major Office 2001+ release put me "out of business"
in this department: I'm sure I'll still find some finishing touches to add,
or other areas to look into.

OK, I may be gone for a while into the "other side". I have the tools at
hand at last to start looking into Outlook 2000/Entourage export/import of
contacts. But it will be a while, don't hold your breath. First I have to
defragment my hard disk to I have enough room to make a larger disk image
for Virtual PC, then install a new disk image of Windows 98 there so I have
enough room to install Office 2000. I'm sure it will take me quite a while
after the installations just to find my way around in that world. And quite
a bit longer before I have any solutions. But I do have an idea in the back
of my head already as to how it may be possible to export contacts without
losing too many fields as in the OE 5.5 Windows export. Here's hoping.
