I just had a major problem and was able to recover from it, but I thought I should add my experience to the mailing list archives in case anyone else has the same problem. My Mac (G4/400 AGP, 9.1, much RAM, etc.) froze in the midst of an IE 5 download. When I rebooted, Entourage wouldn't start. I'd click on the icon, it would change to show starting, but then would revert to normal and I'd be back in the Finder. I tried trashing all Office-related extensions and rebooting. First Run would put the extensions in the System Folder, but Entourage wouldn't start. Deleted preference files. No joy. Tried Conflict test with only Office extensions enabled. No joy. Deleted Office folder and extensions and loaded a fresh copy from the CD. No joy. Finally, after much anguish, I deleted or disabled everything Microsoft in the Extensions folder, rebooted, launched IE first (I figured that's where the problem started), it loaded its own extensions, it offered to continue the interrupted download, and then I started Entourage. Other than having to reenter my email accounts (since I deleted the preferences), it now worked. I think the solution was running IE first before Entourage. I'm not positive what the cause or solution was, but I'm back to work and I'm happy. -- Domenico Bettinelli, Jr.<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]><http://www.bettnet.com/> Catholic World News <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <http://www.cwnews.com/> XNS Name: =Domenico Bettinelli, Jr. "The experience of flying invites one 'to consider God's greatness, which the faith symbolically places in the sky, although it affirms that the entire universe is incapable of containing his immensity.'" - Pope John Paul II -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To search the archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
