sort addressbook by FIRST name?

Is there any way to get the adress book to sort by first name, instead of 
by last name? The only work-around I can see is to manually enter the 
full name as a Nickname for every single contact and then sort by the 
Nickname field.  Not a very efficient solution (with several hundred 
addresses, it would take me an awfully long time to enter all those 
nicknames!)
