Howdy.
As a dedicated Mac user for many years and a novice propellerhead (I'm brave
enough to monkey with hardware, but keep my software meddling within safe
bounds), I've always been curious about AppleScript. Sure, I've created
bunches of shortcuts within Word, and use QuicKeys to streamline image
processing in Photoshop. But writing applets always seemed daunting.
In the past few days, I've downloaded and tested some AppleScripts from Paul
Berkowitz and others, modifying one or two of them as needed. I've also
browsed the library of available scripts at <www.applescriptcentral.com>,
and am left in awe of Paul's depth of expertise and prolific output.
Although most of us are intimidated back into our home offices when we see
the work of a true craftsman, I'm inspired by Paul's example to learn more
about scripting. I'll start with the Apple site and move up to Danny
Goodman's book, I suppose, but I'll definitely think of Paul as the one who
emboldened me to learn a skill I thought was out of my reach.
Thanks, Paul, for your generous contributions to this list, and to all the
AppleScript users who benefit from your abilities.
