OK, I'm about at wit's end with trying to synchronize. The problem, you may remember, started when I tried to synchronize with my Kyocera phone. It has now deteriorated to where I can't synch with anything. I've tried synching using the Entourage conduits from two different Macs (running 9.1), to three different Palm platforms: a Palm V, a Handspring Prism, and a Kyocera SmartPhone 6035. Every pairing exhibits the same symptom: when trying to synchronize the DateBook, the synch process starts, then stops with no error message on the computer and a "connection was lost" message on the Palm, with no error noted in the Log on the computer. (I keep different identity names on the PalmOS devices, and switch identity names in Erage when synching with any particular one). The Address Book synchs OK, which causes me to believe that I have a corrupted DateBook (probably as a result of early attempts to synchronize with the Kyocera phone; everything was working fine until then. Anyway, I see myself down the road creating a new Date Book and re-entering all my events (OUCH) unless anyone has some other brilliant-or-otherwise intermediate suggestions.
