Entourage juts places a conduit that the Palm sync process uses, so you
still need the hotsync portions of the Palm software (you can remove the
Palm Desktop application and the Palm Instant Desktop Extension), but you
still need all of the Conduit Manager, Hotsync manager, SerialPort Monitor,
etc.
Then, when you install the palm support for Entourage, it replaces Palm's
address, to do, datebook, and notes conduits with an Entourage conduit. All
of this still needs to live in the Palm folder.
So, you still use Palm's hotsync manager to control what action the conduit
takes (Mac Overwrites Palm, Syncronize, etc.)

P.S. make sure your identity is named exactly the same as the user name in
your Palm.
