I would hazard a guess that the problem isn't with Entourage but with the
system or Finder somehow. The script is a simple one, really only a half
dozen effective lines (outside of ifs, ends, trys, etc). I can't see
anything it does as dangerous in and of itself. It's more likely what you
are seeing is some corruption in the system or Finder that is being
triggered by something the script does, maybe a memory leak or writing where
it should not over a period of time. The inability to restart the
application, to me, hints at that.
The only "solution" I would have is to use the built-in function and steer
away from the script! Or else, restart more frequently. ;-) If you have
OneClick, KeyQuencer, or QuicKeys, you can probably set up a keyboard
shortcut to activate that built-in command, but there is no AppleScript
access to it.
