I know the differences between IMAP and POP. I am wondering if anyone has good reasons for using on or the other.  I am thinking of using IMAP with my mac.com account, but am not aware of any bad experiences or good ones. Most people I work with haven’t even heard of it.

Any thoughts?

The disadvantages are that it can be a little harder to manage IMAP folders (deleting, etc.) and, if you’re a paranoid type, you could imagine some devious hacker getting into your stuff on the server (I wouldn’t worry about it). The advantages are, 1) if you travel a lot,  you can get into your account from anywhere, and/or 2) if you access your account from both home and work you can keep everything synchronized, even Sent messages, accessible from both machines.
