G'day Folks

For a little while now my iMac [an iMac DV, one of the last of the fruity
ones] has refused to shut down. On selecting either Shut Down or Restart it
quits all open apps including the Application Switcher & stops. The cursor
will respond to mouse movement but not clicks. To restart I have to hit the
reset button & to shut down I have to pull the power cord.

I've been through the clean install routine three times now. The last time I
installed Mac OS 9, updated to 9.1 & then ran Software Update before adding
or reinstalling any 3rd party stuff. All was well until the first time I ran
Entourage. As expected it installed the M$ extensions & restarted but on my
next attempt at restarting I was back to square one. I have applied Office
2001 SR1 Updater but this hasn't solved the problem.

Has anyone else encountered a similar problem or have any solution
suggestions?

Cheers, Pedro :-)

Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes. They're not fond of rules, and
they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree
with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do
is ignore them, because they change things. And while some may see
them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are
crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.
