Before buying, I would recommend checking out
eMessage Archiver, by John Carlsen, which is now ready. You do
need FileMaker Pro to use it.
The latest, perhaps final, beta is available for free download:

If you have FMP, try it out. It's great! Among much else, it allows you
to reply directly to archived messages from your email program of choice
(i.e. Entourage).
