A while back someone told me that searching was reasonably fast under
Entourage, but I am wondering if they meant only searching subjects, titles,
and names only. Under Emailer, with a folder of just a few thousand items,
searching was reasonable (once a folder hits 10,000 or more and the overall
db gets into the 100,000 range it slows down considerably).

Under my new and therefore relatively small Entourage mail database I just
tried to search for a text string across entire messages in a folder with
1023 messages. It very slowly crept its way up to 256 and then died (I had
to force quit Entourage which took down the OS as well). I gave Entourage
20 megs or ram and tried again, and I canceled it after it very slowly made
its way to 200. Is it supposed to take 5 minutes to search a folder with
1000 messages? That is not really acceptable.

Is it not indexing the message body, and if so, is there a way to have
Entourage index index the body text of a message? If not, is there anyway
to use Sherlock's document indexing to search Entourage messages?

Thanks,

-Lewis
