Under OS 9, the language support is not installed automatically, which is likely why you are having a problem. Try running the OS 9 installer again, but select custom and install only the language support. You can also look on the OS 9 CD at the individual installers, you should be able to find the language kit installers to install the Eastern European support, which is what you are missing, I think.

There is NO Eastern European support. It simply does NOT exist on my MacOS9.1 CD! There is Central European language kit. I installed it and it added Hungarian, Polish and Slovak to the language support as well as Central European to the Character Set options available. It also installed some CE fonts. Casady & Green fonts are still not supported in Entourage and I still can only type the accented characters by using option+e followed by the letter rather than option+ the letter which C&A supports in Word.
