Hello Paul....

Thank you for your quick response. I tried resending a couple of messages, to the correct “letterrip” address but they too bounced back, actually I received the original of this message back as well (before your response was attached) Subsequently I sent an “OFF” message thinking that I would cancel to offset any problems, and then re-subscribe . Now what do I do, as I did get a reply saying I could no longer send mail to “ Entourage-Talk” but am unaware as to how to get back on the list again...sorry to be such a bother :-(

Hello, Jan

Just change the "Off" to an "On":

    <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Also, I continue to be a bit boggled as to ‘Talk’s”  overall site presentation:  trying to find a topic on the list for example or trying to find a thread to which  I have previously responded . I tried the “search” mechanism  covering my first ever post but came up empty as far as results.( Double checked the topic heading as well) Is there an ‘Entourage-Talk’ “Home” page which gives an outline on “HOW” to properly use the site? (I am a member of the Apple iMac Forum and perhaps am too used to their format!) I just cannot seem to get the netiquette involved with your site down pat at all. Is HTML allowed/do I just hit the “reply” button to get a response back/how do I find the thread again for a post I have effected/is there a topic listing by subject/is there a main listing of all topics by title or date/ etc.

It sounds to me - since you're referring to 'site' - that you're accessing Entourage-talk from a website in an browser like IE. Perhaps you're accessing the Archives? Since it's not a Discussion Board like Apple's but a real mailing list, you're much better just using it in Entourage itself, and set it up in the Mailing List manager for easier use. (I myself use one Mailing List folder for most of my mailing lists, but many people prefer to have separate folders for each mailing list.) As time goes on, you'll just use it on a daily basis, and use Entourage's own Advanced Find or QuickFilter (the little box in top RH corner of every mail folder) for searching. You can go to View menu and choose Threaded to see messages arranged by thread, and alternate between viewing Unread Only (also in View menu, or cmd-Y) to see just  the newest messages and viewing all (cmd-Y again to toggle it back on) to see all messages when doing a quick search. To check a recent message  (earlier today, for example) in some thread whose name you can't remember, just click twice on the Sent or Received column
to put into date order with recent at top, then back to View menu later for Threaded. (Too bad they don't have a keyboard shortcut for that - I can't understand why not).

At the moment, if you're using the archives, I can't really help there, as I haven't used them much (I seem to live in them on a daily basis and don't need to look back much). I don't quit know how to best search there, but there must be decent search mechanism. If you think you have a simple question and can't figure out how to find the answer there, just write here. Or you might want to check the Entourage news group at

    microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage

which you subscribe to by going to the Microsoft News Server in our folder list, clicking Update, selecting and clicking Subscribe. Then go to it in your Folder list. by clicking More a few times, you'll get a backlog from the server, view Threaded, and maybe you'll see your question there. But for complex questions, this list is better as there are more experts here, including the developers. the simple questions get answered over and over again at the newsgroup however, so you might find a quick answer waiting for you on the server there.

HTML is allowed on the list, although not appreciated by everyone. No one makes any fuss about it, since we can all handle it just fine as we're all using Entourage. (You usually get objections only on "all-purpose" lists where some people are still using mail clients like Emailer which can't do HTML.) I'm not positive that everyone will love your extra-thick bold Gadget font, but everyone's too polite to say so. ;-) HTML is OK.  Just click Reply to reply. Your other questions all refer to the Archives site, so I'll bow out here.

I think perhaps going through the 5 day exercise of getting my Entourage “FIXED” has somehow addled my brain and the latter is now in reverse gear!!

Any input as to how to properly sign –up (again) and properly use your facility would be gratefully received  as I want to stay on top of ‘Entourage’ and I find your site to be an excellent source of info in this regard!

Warm regards, Jan Donnithorne (Ms)

PS Am using the “Ms” designation as some ‘Talk’ folks seemed to think I was a “guy” :-)

You'll notice that somebody just did so again, in spite of the (Ms.), which I saw myself. ;-)

I am having a rather difficult time in totally understanding how the Entourage-Talk lists work. Is there some type of overview you could send along to assist in this regard? I continue to receive daily messages but when I sent back a response to one this am I received my original message back from “letterrip”...no reason indicated as to the reason for its’ return. I am not even sure that this message will reach you.

Any help in understanding how your system works would be greatly appreciated.

Your message arrived fine, so you must be subscribed OK. Over this weekend, the list's email address was being changed and both the old and new servers were down for about 18 hours, so perhaps if you sent a message during that period it would have bounced it back. You seem to be OK now.  Try again with your previous message, since this one got through. It needs to go, like this one did, to
