I'd advise <everyone> importing from 2001 to rebuild that database first.

One HUGE under the hood improvement is the search speed for Advanced Find,
even when searching the entire text of messages. Searches on subject <fly>!

About mailing list sorting: Sorting by multiple fields is, I think, high on
everyone's list of desired enhancements.

Try using the preference "display small navigation buttons" in general
preferences.

No way I know of now. I think the general appearance of the folder pane is
much improved over 2001, though; the custom views being sorted out to what
type of object you are currently viewing (mail, tasks, calendar) is cool. I
think you will find lots of uses for those mail views though. Unread
Messages is very useful, especially if you customize it further. I have one
for mailing list mail only, one for work mail, one for personal. All those
exclude newsgroup messages, which are on a separate unread view. Remember,
you can save any Advanced Find as a custom view. How about "sender is me"
and "date sent" is less than 1 day, for messages I sent out in the last 24
hours?

And, as you'll see, you can at least minimize those six buttons.

Have you tried click and hold on the Mail button? Up pops a list of folders
with unread mail!
