If the nested folders are shown (parent is open), typing the first letter or two will find it. Handy. However, like you, I still like the instant access via script, no matter what the focus is to begin with. Have you seen my "Open Folder" script, which prompts for a prefix string (like "int") and then presents a sorted list of folders (sorted by sub-folder name!), with the first matching name selected. You can re-select if the choice isn't quite right.
