Turning off Office Notifications from inside Entourage and restarting didn't
work for me. But the following seemed to work: Opening Office Notifications
in the Office folder; turning off Office Notifications from that program;
quitting Office Notifications; making sure that Office Notifications is not
still listed as a startup file in the Login pane of System Preferences; and
then finally rebooting.

Well, before trying the method given above I was able to copy the entourage
database files from my zip disk to my hard disk, yet when I started up
entourage the database was not updated. So, I copied the files again from
the zip disk and restarted and that time the files were updated.
