Have you considered just leaving mail on the server and downloading into
both?

All your data is stored in the Documents folder: Microsoft User Data folder:
Office X Identities: select the identity you want.

The Microsoft Database Daemon in the login items is open.

There is a script to close the Daemon:

tell application "Microsoft Database Daemon"
    quit
end tell

...and don't forget the IE needs to be closed if you are installing.
