Steven, If you consider that the list, not the "original sender" is who sent you the message, it's more intuitive. Mailing lists are often set up this way, so that the typical "reply" keeps the thread on-list. If a "reply" addressed your message only to the original sender, much traffic (and information!) would quickly migrate off-list, thus defeating the purpose of the list, which is to communicate with all list members.
