(I don't have a long HTML message to try out at the moment, and I'm in 2001 too) I just tried - in 2001. Try it in X. It's a bit temperamental in complex HTML, but it works like this: 1. Select a word or so at the top of your intended selection. (I.e. don't just click, but drag slightly to get a bit of text selected.) 2. Scroll to the end of the section you want to select. 3. Depress Shift key. 4. Click at the point you wish the selection to end, and drag backwards a tiny amount - doesn't matter how little. Bingo!
