ETers,
I am having a problem with sending Entourage X mail via the
authentication-required POP server where I work. I receive the dreaded
"-5530" message, which states:
> The SMTP server for "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" does not recognize any of the
> authentication methods supported by Entourage. To send mail, try disabling
> SMTP authentication in the account settings or talk to your administrator.
I am switching to Entourage X from Eudora. In Eudora, I am able to use the
server with the special "XTND XMIT" option. I can also send mail with
authentication disabled when I am at work (because the server also does IP
number authentication). However, I can't send mail without authentication
via that server when I'm logged into my ISP from home.
BTW, I have applied the two patches ("Hotmail" and "Network Security"). I
have also checked Microsoft's "Mactopia" and "Technet" sites, but they go no
further than "check the Authentication box".
Does anyone know 1) what authentication protocols Entourage supports, and 2)
if there are any plans to extend that list?
Thanks in advance,
