The way "Deleted Items" folder on IMAP works is it's just a visual representation of "Mark message for deletion" or purging. Most people then have the setting to purge (empty) messages marked for deletion, or Deleted Items folder (same thing) on Quit. Sometimes "on next connection". Moving a message to the IMAP INBOX is like connecting, and all the various Rules come into play when a message is received in the INBOX - the vestibule to your account there. Its like receiving messages there for the first time. Since this message has been marked for purging, that may well have been the signal to purge it. If not (or even if so - IMAP accounts are funny things), it may turn up again like a bad penny. If you have web access to this account through your ISP's web page, I'd suggest going there and looking around. You may find it still: in the INBOX, in the Deleted Items folder, or in the "real" deleted-mail folder set up by the server, or in some other odd place.
