Having whined about the autofill slowness, I thought I'd mention something that is a joy to use, *especially* for good typists.
I love how easy it is to assign categories when I create a new appointment: Command-, brings up the Assign Categories palette, type the first letter of a category gets me to it, type space to fill in the check box, and type return to take me back to the appointment.
