Two weeks!? Hotcha! You're a long-serving veteran compared to me.

A quick search of the recent list archives (database backup applescript)
turned up mention of a script by Jeff Porten that had been discussed a year
or so earlier. Then a search in Google ("Jeff Porten" applescript) went
straight to the 'Backup Entourage Data [v1.1.0]' script on AppleScript
Central at http://www.applescriptcentral.com/arc.php?letter=b.

Perhaps that was the script you saw mentioned.

It's pretty straightforward, designed for making a backup on a daily basis &
keeping the previous day's backup around for good measure. Although designed
for OS 9 it's a snip to change the folder references so that it works in OS
X, and work it does. The backups are stored in the same folder as the
original (which isn't too useful if your system goes belly-up) but with a
little tweaking you could make the backups wherever you wanted.

The 'read me' mentions a 'startup items' folder. Not sure what that is.;-)

More recent versions, alternative solutions etc. are almost certainly
findable with a little more searching, but it's bedtime here in the UK.

G'night
