My ISP connects the MAC-adress of my computers to my cablemodemnr. And to my IP adress...
If I plug out my Ethernet cable from one computer(to cablemodem) to the other computer(&cablemodem)... The MAC-CablemodemNr-Ipadress changes and then my dear ISP refuses to pass me any info for the next 12 hours... Then it releases the combination and gives me a new Ipadress...
How do you release an IP adress in OS9.2 ?
I do this:
1. I close all my internet related programms (IE,Entourage,ICQ,...)
2. Controll-panels/TCPIP, options and check the inactive box.
3. Unplug my computer & transfer the connection to the other computer with OSX
Is that not OK ?

My first helpdesker told me... Yes, hihi, we only give support to Microsoft...
My second helpdesker told me... Some very impressive stuff on how Microsoft releases and ... I told him how we did it and how his system and MAC adress and Modem Number were used to screw his customers like me...hihi...not... Out of gratitude he contacted the second line of customer support, they released the IP adress blockage of 12 hours and this allows me to write you this email now... From my new iBook... They even called me back to tell me this & told me that an Apple released the IP adres automatically... Perhaps if you shut down the computer ... But I have doubts if you just unplug the ethernet connection and plug it in into another one... Can anyone comment on this ?
Anyway, he told me ... With Mac it is a 1000 times simpler...
