Alright, it must be that time of the year for me again - this happened
yesterday:

- I worked on my e-mail, and had about 1,450 messages in my in-box.
- I close E'rage, leave work, grab some dinner.
- At home, I re-open E'rage to check new mail, and notice that roughly 200+
messages seem to be missing (everything between 6/14 and 6/20 was gone).

Checked and did a comprehensive search for the messages (I know some of
their characteristics to do a search, and nothing turns up.

What's even WEIRDER: It seems that this has extended to the ENTIRE database,
as all of my sub-folders from mailing lists all are missing the same
date-range -- this is REALLY weird!

Any ideas on what could cause that!?!

I decide to do a rebuild of the database (thinking that maybe that will fix
it), and wake up this morning to find that the db could not be rebuilt, and
most likely can't be repaired. I opt NOT to do an advanced rebuild.

This is, roughly, the 4th or 5th time that I have lost data due to E'rage -
and while I see that each time some new enhancement is added to E'rage to
help with data stability, this is becoming an unacceptable condition.

Granted, I have a HUGE mail db, and the standard answer is most likely that
I should archive a lot of this stuff, but this doesn't distract from the
fact the E'rage loses data - which is not good, and certainly not documented
(i.e. under what conditions such data loss can occur)

Based on past experience, I'm not alone in such experiences, and based on my
work experience, Exchange Client 2001 is just as prone, if not more so, to
regularly eat itself, and kill user's stored mail (I know, that one's made
by a different, far less competent BU).

Still, it's annoying - are the conditions under which data loss can occur
known, or is this a roulette game?
