If someone knows, in OS X, what the HTML rendering component is, you could try just deleting that, because the "first run" code would automatically replace it. Lacking that, I guess reinstalling everything is the only way to go. I have visited a few of the sites you mentioned both with 5.1 and 5.2 Explorer, and they render fine.
