IMAP or POP?

There have been several reports of lost mail with IMAP, particularly with
messages overwriting other messages. The mention of Stop All sounds like POP
mail download.

One thing to try: In the Account window for that account, check the box for
"Allow On Line Access" in the Options tab. Then, in the folder list, she
should see that account listed at the bottom. Click on that, and she can see
exactly what mail is still on the server. It's possible, even likely, that
the messages she is missing are still there, and can be retrieved in this
manner.
