You definitely need to check out the AppleScript Sourcebook site:

I ran across a new tutorial site yesterday, have not read through it to see
how good it is, but give it a try:

There is a series of articles by Bill Briggs, called AppleScript Primer
(written July, 1999 thru February, 2001) that take you step by step through
a number of useful techniques.

I'm sure Paul will mention the O'Reilly book, "AppleScript in a Nutshell".
It's a great reference tool but not a great introductory book.

Some folks speak highly of "AppleScript for Applications" by Ethan Wilde. I
have his book on scripting for Internet, and it is very readable and useful.
Also, Danny Goodman's AppleScript Handbook is a standard, if somewhat
outdated, learning tool. I used it to get started.
