Anyone know a way to convert an account from IMAP to POP? I don’t see an option under the Account tool. Or is this something I would have to do through my ISP?
You can only make it IMAP if your ISP enables it as an IMAP server. Most commercial ISPs will charge you more to give you more space. (Typically for IMAP, you'll need a lot more than the usual 5 MB you get for OP, since you'll be leaving everything on the server.) My university gives me 80-MB, for example. I would think 25 MB or so to be a minimum. Commercial ISPs will probably have a separate server with a different server address, so, yes, you should speak to them.
In the case of mac.com or a company's or university's server which can function as either POP or IMAP, you have to remake the account from scratch. Open the Account window, note all the settings, especially POP and SMTP server. Delete the account. Press the New button to make a New Account, choose the to it Manually (long button at lower left) and switch the popup in the middle from POP to IMAP. Most IMAP servers will require SMTO authentication ("Advanced sending options" so inquire about that too.)
