You're probably on the right track there, Nigel. That pesky quantum stuff gets its fingers in everywhere - since I started kicking this around I've also seen inconsistent behaviour. Trying it just now, I found that after double-clicking to open, unread deleted text messages were more likely to be self-closing if the double-click was really snappy - as mine usually is. With a more leisurely double-click (how slow can you go) the messages seemed to stay open more often. But again, it's not consistent. This problem is a regular affliction for me, as I subscribe to far too many lists and get a bit cavalier sometimes when keeping my list folders trim. It's demeaning enough having to go rooting around in my trash, without having messages scuttle away from me as if on rat-back when I try to read them.
