I ran into this too. The problem is not with the databases, but that you are using an update version of the software, and it is checking to see if you really have the previous version.
The solution is to put the Office 2001 installation CD into the new machine, and let the import process find the old Entourage on the CD. Then your import will go without trouble. Just make sure you do not accidentally install the old Office onto your new machine!
