I don't remember ever detecting a pattern, but this has happened to me
occasionally in both E2001 and v.X. The link is clickable if you Cmd-Click
on it still, even though the cursor doesn't change to the pointing finger.
Eventually full functionality returns, i.e. no Cmd key modifier is required.
