Yes, for the last week, I have been playing with this idea as well. I
like the idea of a system-wide address book, and there are things about
the new Mail GUI that are quite attractive.

Mail 1.2 seems even better at IMAP, but to be honest, I'm not sure it's
all that much faster than EntX, if at all. Here is my current checklist
of which seems better at what:

1. Sorting: EntX seems quicker
2. Combination inbox: Mail seems better at combining all the inboxes of
my various mail accounts
3. Address checking: EntX seems a tad faster
4. Sorting of large numbers of messages: EntX seems quicker
5. iChat integration: okay, no fair, but it matters to me, and it's
slick
6. iSync integration: same, but I am hopeful that the MBU will take
advantage of what iSync has to offer
7. Mailing list rules: EntX rules, pun intended; Mail just doesn't have
the management tools
8. Leveraging Contact info: this is a tossup; Mail enjoys the benefits
of a systemic integration with the Address Book & Calendar, but
Entourage lets me control/right click on an address and get directions
from home location, and do much more with each piece of info
9. Formatting: more options with EntX, and at least EntX knows how to
format a phone number; Mail seems to, uh, be stymied by this herculean
task; I like Mail's ability to blow up a number large on screen, but
it's hardly mission critical
10. Much as I like the Mail GUI, I like the better integration of
EntX's GUI; with simple keyboard commands, I can navigate among the
mail, address book, and calendar components. Using LaunchBar, I can do
the same with Mail/AB/iCal, but it's not the same as staying in the
same app. Moreover, I can get closer to making EntX look like what I
want it to than I can with Mail.
11. Mail lacks the variety of Views that are attractive to me under
EntX. For example, I am on over a dozen lists, and have half again as
many rules to file messages. EntX makes it easy to see what has come
in, w/o having to root around in storage folders. I have not discerned
a way to do that in Mail.
12. Mail's junk filter is superior, and it is trainable. I have been
seriously impressed by it.

If it weren't for the bickering between Apple & MS, and the FUD that
goes along with relying on MS, I probably wouldn't be thinking about
this except for the fun of experimentation.

But because of those things, I want to make sure that I have, and
understand, my options.
