I’m switching from Apple to FastMail as my email provider, and now have IMAP as opposed to POP.
One of the first things I noticed is that I can’t duplicate messages. I keep “templates” in my drafts folder that I duplicate off of; except the duplicate command is grayed out. Is this a characteristic of IMAP? Not cool.
Yes. I'm not quite sure why it has to be that way but it may be for similar reasons as to why you can't duplicate IMAP messages by AppleScript - the server cannot return an accurate ID of the duplicated message. However you can still option-drag to another IMAP folder to duplicate. So make a secondary Drafts folder - call it Drafts Copies or Template Copies or something like that, as a subfolder of Drafts to keep it close by - and option-drag your original draft there. Then click on the Drafts Copies folder and there you are.
